VICE PRESIDENT’S REPORT

As furharvesting season is winding down, and will be over by the time you read this, hope everyone had an enjoyable and productive outing.

The December and January auctions went well for the most part and most seemed to be pleased with the results. The fur numbers were not large but a good test on prices for most species. The weather for the most part has been fair throughout most of the season.

The results of the Jan. 15, 2011 auction follows (Listed by # Sold, Top and Ave.):

Beaver — 24, 12.00, 5.21

Badger — 5, 21.50, 20.90

Bobcat — 13, 100.00, 48.65

Raccoon — 637, 27.50, 9.63

Coyote — 96, 23.50, 11.16

Muskrat — 347, 7.75, 5.60

Opossum — 84, 3.00, 1.80

Red Fox — 8, 22.00, 13.19

Skunk — 23, 2.25, 2.03

We want to thank each of the buyers for making the auction what it was. Thanks also to all who helped set up and work the tables. All was very much appreciated.

As another fur harvesting season is winding down and the auctions will be done, Donna and I, have decided to step down as auction coordinators. We have met so many great people over the last 5 years, not only by phone and in person, from Kansas and other states. We have enjoyed doing the task very much. As age is creeping upon us, we feel that some younger individual will do a better and more efficient job.

If anyone is interested, you may give W.R. a call and visit with him on what the job consists of. Thanks again to all for your trust and support and patience with us over the last five years. We will still be around at most of the states activities and auctions as they take place. We may not be getting up at 3:00 a.m. and driving 2 or 3 hours to be there when the doors open, but we plan on being there. Thanks again to all.

— Roger D. Macy
